Everything You Need to Know About Commercial Cable Assemblies

Commercial aircraft cable assemblies come in all shapes and sizes. Here at GTINOX®stainless cable, our experts are used to answering questions regarding cable assemblies, such as what custom fitting and cable combinations are available, what performance characteristics are tested, and what are the standard manufacturing turnaround times. So, this week on the HotWire we will discuss everything you need to know about trusting us to manufacture your commercial cable assemblies—including why you should choose GTINOX®stainless cable and what detail you should have available when you’re ready to place your order.

The benefits of GTINOX®stainless cable’s commercial cable assemblies are many, including:

  • Customization: As a manufacturer, we work with each of our customers to identify the application and help you choose the right product for the job. In addition to the many stock hardware and cable combinations we offer, we can make nearly any custom assembly design you need.

  • One stop shop: Rather than having to go to many different vendors for your application, GTINOX®stainless cable  will be able meet all of your requirements—from the cable to the fittings to final test and inspection. We have the expertise and the experience to get it done right.

  • Large inventory: We maintain a large inventory of both bare and coated cable as well as fittings to ensure that we are able to deliver on short turnaround times. Through our stocking program, we find that many we have to manufacture less specialized runs.

GTINOX®stainless cable focuses on quality and performance above all else. If requested, cable assemblies are proof loaded to ensure they are swaged properly and can hold the breaking strength. To perform such a test, we use a flatbed tester which applies tension to the assembly and when we released we inspect the assembly for any failure that may have occurred.

We also perform what is known as a break test, during which the assembly is taken to its breaking point. We apply gradual pressure on the assembly until it finally fails and we then make observations about the breaking strength and anything else we may have seen. When you place an order for cable assemblies with us, we always perform this test and report the results to you in our certifications.

Are you ready to place a cable assembly order with us? When placing your order, we ask that you provide us with some basic information so that we may suggest the assembly best-suited to your needs. This information includes, at a minimum,  aircraft cable or wire rope material, size, construction, end configuration (type of hardware), and length of finished cable assembly.
